On the Côte d'Azur, the market is more than shopping. It's where you meet the neighbours, have a coffee and hear what's going on in town. Our overview shows the main markets of the region. Almost all are held in the morning, roughly 7 am to 1 pm. In summer, many towns add evening markets.

Our tips for market shopping
- Producteur or revendeur? Not every stall sells its own produce. Signs saying “producteur” or “production locale” show who grows their own. Growers often have less choice but truly seasonal goods
- Come early for the best choice, late for bargains
- Bring cash – small stalls don't always take cards
- Buy seasonally: in winter, citrus from Menton, truffles and the first olive oil of the new harvest; in spring, artichokes and asparagus; in summer, tomatoes, peaches and figs
- Don't forget to greet: a “Bonjour” before ordering is a must (see Tu or vous?)
Market days change occasionally, especially between summer and winter season and on public holidays. If in doubt, check with the local Office de Tourisme. Is your favourite market missing? Let us know and we will add it.
